KARIPAIN

DRY BALM

"Karipain Dry Balm" is a popular papain-containing medical drug used efficiently for the treatment of vertebral and articular affections. The concentration of active substance is at the level of 350 Fip-PE. Owing to the activation of papain molecules the medical drug may be administered by electrophoresis. Papain is active in the acid, neutral and alkaline media with a pH range of 3-12, thus enabling to increase the mass transfer of active substances by electrophoresis and the attainment of maximum concentration of active substances in the problematic area.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Dry Balm Karipain is a medical drug of natural origin fermented from the papaya latex. Under electrophoresis this medical drug may exert a direct action on the affected portions of cartilaginous tissues of articulations. The main advantage of "Karipain" consists in the wide range of proteolytic activity (expressed in units, based on the classification of the International Pharmaceutical Federation) – 350 Fip-PE.

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION

Karipain is a proteolytic ferment drug of natural origin and direct action, obtained from papaya latex. Karipain has a wide proteolytic activity, its activity is expressed in units, based on the classification of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (1 fl of Karipain corresponds to 350 Fip-PE).

INDICATIONS FOR ADMINISTRATION

Karipain is a highly efficient medical drug used for the treatment of osteochondrosis of vertebral column, various forms of hernias of intervertebral disks, Schmorl’s hernias, for the treatment of articular contractures (post-traumatic and post-stroke), keloid scars of various origins, disk-related radiculitis, tunnel syndrome.

SPECIAL INDICATIONS

A temporary aggravation of main disease is possible between the 5th and 8th procedures of treatment, it will disappear after 3-5 more procedures. It is important not to discontinue the treatment! Karipain can not be administered intravenously or in intramuscular injections!

ADMINISTRATION AND DOSES

Karipain Dry Balm may be used in any medical institution where electrophoresis is available (for example, the "Поток-1" device). The methodology is specially adapted for comfortable administration in policlinics, medical-sanitary centers, medical centers, hospitals. Treatment is administered in courses – 1 course has 20 – 30 sessions. Pauses of 1-2 days between procedures are allowed. Upon necessity Repeat course are administered in 30 – 60 days. One course of 20-30 procedures with Karipain is recommended for the treatment of vertebral osteochondrosis, osteochondrosis of neck compartment, protrusions of intervertebral disks. Treatment of intervertebral hernias requires 1 to 3 courses 20-30 procedures each (the number of courses is determined by the treating physician). The interval between courses is 1 to 2 months. 3 courses are recommended for the treatment of hernias sized over 5 mm.

Karipain Dry Balm is administered by electrophoresis from positive pole. Immediately before the procedure 1 bottle of preparation is dissolved in 10 ml of physiological solution (or water for injections). 2-3 drops of dimexide are added to the solution. The tampon temperature must be strictly controlled and kept in the range of 37-390С (controlled by water thermometer), pH 5-7. The solution is then applied on white filtering paper placed on the electrode tampons. The electrode tampon dimensions are 10х15 cm. The current shall be set to 10-15 mA (at the beginning of each procedure it is increased gradually, starting from 5 mA). The exposure time is 10 to 20 minutes. It shall also be increased gradually. The failure to comply with these parameters will result in the significant reduction of efficiency of medication!

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to the Karipain components, acute inflammatory processes in tissues, sequestration of disk hernia and foramenal location of sequester.
